Abena Akuaba Appiah, model, TV presenter, musician, actress and entrepreneur with 5 years experience in the fashion industry. She has modeled for most of the top name designers from around the world such as crèmè de la crèmè from the United States, Andres Aquino from Spain, sushma Patel from India, Catalan from France, late Kofi Ansah from Ghana, just to name a few.
Abena has participated in international modeling competitions such as, Top Model Ghana 2013 and Top Model of the World 2013 where she emerged top 15 out of 60 countries respectively. She also won Miss Universe Ghana 2014 and competed in Donald trump international pageant Miss Universe in 2014. Abena became a brand ambassador for Garner hair products in the United States. The runway diva has done fashion show with contour fashion week, New York fashion week, Vlisco, Woodin, Da Viva and GTP. She has released 5 singles and is working on an album YouTube
Abena became an Xfactor finalist in 2012 and has recently stared in an American movies where she played all three characters and is set to be released next year. She also stared in the American TV series Afri-Americans, Abena has done TV commercials for Surfline LTG, Lydia contraception pills etc.
Early this year the national director for the Queen Beauty Universe Ghana pageant selected Abena and a couple of other girls from Ghana to be closely screened and evaluated. During this process Abena Emerged as the winner and soon after traveled to Malaga Spain for the international pageant Queen Beauty Universe. Exactly when Abena arrived in Spain the evaluation began, Holiday Polynesia hotel hosted the second edition with a participation of 30 countries. For 10 days the contestants enjoyed the wonders of Benalmadena, host city, with different leisure activities.
The Ceo of the pageant stated that Two hours was enough to proclaim Ghana as the most beautiful woman in the universe. The contestants began the show singing and dancing followed by parades in traditional costumes, swimwear and gala. She called Abena, of spectacular beauty with big blue eyes and with an elegance that made her deserving of this title. After 10 days in Malaga Abena did Ghana proud and won the Queen beauty universe Ghana and Miss elegance title.
This is the first time in history Ghana has won an international pageant. Abena stated that whiles growing up it was always her dream to become a queen. Abena was bullied and teased in school so she made it a priority to gain an international platform to allow her voice to be heard as she fights for young girls who are going through what she went through.
Abena stated that the competition was very though and what kept her going was the fact that she had to make her country proud and also wanted to prove to young girls around the world and especially Ghana that everything is possible.
